FAQs
We’re here to make your sugaring experience feel clear, comfortable, and stress-free, so we’ve answered the questions we hear most to help you feel confident before your appointment.
Sugaring removes hair using a natural, skin-friendly paste made from sugar, water, and lemon. You may hear it called sugaring, sugar waxing, or sugar wax, all of which refer to the same method and results. No matter the name, it delivers the same smooth, gentle, and skin-loving experience.
Many guests come to sugaring after uncomfortable waxing experiences and feel understandably nervous about trying something new, but you are in experienced hands. While some sensation is normal since hair is removed from the root, proper technique often makes sugaring more comfortable than traditional waxing, and most clients notice improvement within a few sessions. If you consider yourself especially sensitive, you may wish to consult your physician about taking an over-the-counter pain reliever about an hour before your appointment.
We commonly perform brow/lip sugaring on girls ages 10 and up. At 16 years old bikini/brazilian appointments are available with signed parental permission.
Yes, in certain situations. Puberty can begin earlier for some girls, and limited sugaring services may be offered for younger guests with signed parental permission and supervision. A female parent or guardian must be present, the guest must feel completely comfortable, and the service will stop immediately if there is any hesitation. Our focus is always on confidence, comfort, and respect, and we are happy to discuss whether sugaring is appropriate for your child.
For best results, hair should be about the length of a grain of rice. If trimming is needed, use a body hair trimmer with care, starting with the longest guard and adjusting shorter only if necessary to avoid cutting hair too short. We recommend trimming about a week before your appointment to allow time for regrowth, with a light touch-up a day or two before if needed.
There’s no need to reschedule your appointment. You’re welcome to come in as scheduled—just use a tampon or menstrual cup during your service. You may feel a bit more sensitive than usual, though many guests don’t notice much of a difference. If you do choose to reschedule, we completely understand. We simply ask for at least 24 hours’ notice to remain within our cancellation policy and avoid any appointment charges.
Sugaring removes hair in the natural direction of growth, which helps reduce breakage and promotes smoother, more even regrowth over time. With consistent appointments, many guests experience finer hair and longer-lasting smoothness compared to waxing. Because sugaring works on shorter hair, it offers flexibility to maintain results on a schedule that fits your lifestyle.
Avoid tanning or sun exposure for at least 48 hours before your appointment. Gently exfoliate a day or two prior and make sure hair is about ⅛–¼ inch long, roughly the size of a grain of rice. Arrive with clean skin and avoid lotions, oils, deodorant, makeup, or heavy workouts the day of your service to help keep skin calm and comfortable.
In many cases, yes. Sugaring is a gentler, skin-conscious alternative when traditional waxing is not recommended, though you should always consult your physician if you’ve been advised to avoid hair removal services. Sugaring may be suitable for darker skin tones, pregnancy up to 38 weeks or longer with a doctor’s note, oncology care with added precautions, psoriasis or eczema when not using topical steroids, and for those who are diabetic. Because sugaring uses no heat and is naturally antibacterial, it is often safer for sensitive or compromised skin, and consultations or patch tests are always encouraged when needed.
While sugaring is gentle, it is not appropriate in certain situations for the health and safety of your skin. We cannot perform sugaring while you are using Accutane or isotretinoin medications, during active use of strong antibiotics, on sunburned or compromised skin, or too soon after chemical peels or aggressive exfoliation. Certain topical prescriptions must be discontinued in advance, and waiting periods may be required with physician approval. If you are unsure whether sugaring is right for you, we are always happy to help you determine the safest next steps.
Results vary depending on your sugaring routine and hair growth cycle. Guests on a consistent schedule often enjoy smooth skin for 2–4 weeks with finer, slower regrowth over time, while first-time or occasional guests may notice some hairs returning sooner due to natural growth cycles. For those beginning their sugaring journey, our goal is to sync hair growth for better long-term results, and we’re happy to share details about our Refine & Reduce Program to help you get there faster.
No, sugaring does not cause ingrown hairs and often helps reduce them. Because hair is removed in the natural direction of growth while gently exfoliating the skin, regrowth is typically smoother and less likely to become trapped. Ingrown hairs are more commonly caused by hair removal against the grain, tight clothing, or lack of proper exfoliation and moisturization.
Sugaring works best when hair is short—about the length of a grain of rice. Timing tips: Usually, 7–10 days of growth after shaving is perfect. Avoid traditional waxing 2 weeks before your first visit. If your hair is longer than ½ inch, a light trim will make your appointment more comfortable.
This ultimately comes down to personal preference, and we’re here to support what works best for you. For optimal results, most guests benefit from scheduling every 3–4 weeks for the first few appointments to help sync hair growth cycles. Once aligned, your esthetician will help customize a schedule that fits your goals, lifestyle, and comfort level.
We understand that schedules change, but because appointments are reserved just for you, we require at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Appointments changed with less notice or no-shows will be charged to the card on file, and for the quickest assistance we recommend calling or texting 469-408-8471. For appointments two hours or longer, 48 hours’ notice is greatly appreciated to allow us to accommodate other guests.
